The Captains 2018-19

Dear Members

As the incoming Captains for 2018/19 we would like to thank you all for supporting our nominations. We are looking forward to an action packed year both on the course and in the Clubhouse and are proud to be Captains at this exciting time.

We will try to follow on from the successful leadership of John and Irene, and we will continue to support the innovations that were implemented during their year, and hope to maintain the united atmosphere that they inspired. Our thanks go to the Board, Office, Bar and Restaurant and all Committees for their continued commitment to moving the Club forward.

Members views last year were used by the Board to develop the five year plan which under their stewardship is being implemented on a day to day basis by Paul our Club Manager.

The Bar and Restaurant staff have come together to work harmoniously, making the day to day routines work better than ever before, and on the course, Dan and the team are learning new skills and moving on with the improvements to the course and the practice facilities. We look forward to reaping the rewards of their hard work.

The season’s fixtures include some exciting events, including the NCLGA County Championship in May, and the English Seniors County Finals in October, and we hope all visitors will enjoy playing on our excellent course.

Social events are being planned by our enthusiastic Social Committee and we hope to bring some of the old mixed with something new. The reintroduction of the Men’s Christmas show and the following reprise of Men’s and Ladies’ acts went down well and will hopefully happen again this year. We are open to any ideas you may have; please let us know what you want, and offers of help are always welcome!

Our charity for the year is a local charity, and one which many of you may benefit from in the future.

Keyworth & District Community Concern is a voluntary, non-profit charity operating a mini bus providing transport and support to the elderly and less mobile residents of Keyworth and surrounding villages. It provides transport to and from a Tuesday Lunch Club and Thursday grocery shopping trips, and in line with their charitable aims the bus is also loaned out to other local community and sports groups. Several of our members are volunteer drivers and past members benefit from the trips. We hope you will help us raise money to allow this charity to continue its great work.

We are very much looking forward to working with our Vice Captains Peter and Judy, and we hope to see you all on the course and in the Clubhouse during our year as Captains, particularly all new Members - please introduce yourselves to us if we haven’t already met.

Lastly, we wish you all a very successful golfing season at Stanton on the Wolds.

Best Wishes from your Captains

Kevin Walden and Jane Harby
