Our year as your Captains begins and we thank you all for the great honour of representing you for the 2017-2018 season. As Vice-Captains we’ve had the great experience of Nigel and Jacquie’s fun-filled year, which we hope to continue in many ways along with bringing greater unity to the Club.
The new Club structure is well and truly up and running and our sincere thanks go to the Board, Office, Bar and Restaurant staff and all the committees. We would not have such a comprehensive selection of events, both on and off the course, without them. And naturally, our greatest asset, would not be so pristine and attract so many compliments, without the efforts of Dan and the team. The plans presented by the General Committee for the course ‘makeover’ will be well underway during our year and we’re expecting further compliments to come pouring in.
Looking to the social calendar we hope to bring you some new events and continue to provide those that have previously been very popular. Dressing up and making a fool of yourself won’t be mandatory, but a sense of humour will help. Our heartfelt thanks go to Chris Slater who has stood down as Chair of Social Committee after many successful and enjoyable years, good wishes go to his successor, who’ll have a hard act to follow, but I’m sure will enjoy the challenge.
The Motor Neurone Disease Association (MND) is our chosen charity and is the only national charity in England, Wales and Northern Ireland focused on MND care, research and campaigning. Motor neurone disease (MND) is a progressive disease that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord. This means messages gradually stop reaching muscles, which leads to weakness and wasting. We will have the opportunity to decide how the money raised during our year is spent, whether it be on care or research or both.
Stanton-on-the-Wolds Golf Club means a great deal to us all, with an envied course and brilliant facilities. We’ve all got ideas we would like to see implemented, so bring us your thoughts or offers of help and we will see what can be done.
Lastly, we are looking forward to working with our Vice Captains to make this a memorable year for us all, so to everyone we wish you a great season, with scores to be proud of and memories to last.
Very best wishes from your Captains
