The Scratch Team of
- Sam Costall
- Charles Banks
- Neil Collings
- Tom Davies
- Dan Limon
- with reserve Rob Ward
played their penultimate match of the season away on Monday 14th August against Rufford Park.
The course was in very good condition but the result of the match was very disappointing.
First out of the blocks, and although going two down early on, Sam played very well and fought back to gain our only victory, winning 4 & 3.
Second out was Charles. In a close match he lost 1 down, being outputted by his opponent.
Tom, Neil and Dan all played well but once again, struggled on and around the greens. Hopefully the new chipping and short game practice area recently opened at Stanton should prove beneficial for next season's campaign.
Even though the results have conspired to go against us this season, the Team's combined efforts and overall determination cannot be faulted, and with a bit of luck and rub-of-the-green to turn matches around, outcomes could have been so very different.
Match result:- Stanton 1, Rufford Park 4
Now we need to re-group and get a positive result out of the last game at Wollaton Park on the 21st August, otherwise we could be relegated to the third division next year - not an enviable prospect.
As always, all the Team much appreciate the support given on the night, so if a few more Stanton patrons could make the short journey down the A52 to Wollaton Park and cheer them on, our place in the present League could well be secured.
