On another bitterly cold night, the Men's InterClub Scratch Team played Mapperley Golf Club at Stanton on Monday 8th May, and comprised
- Charlie Banks
- Neil Collings
- Jonathan Kisby
- Tom Davies
- Dan Limon
with reserves Nick Orchard and Phil Norris.
Charlie ("Mr Reliable") Banks was far too steady for his young opponent who seemed to take great delight in regularly visiting unexplored parts of the course, and won out in the country!
The other experienced team veteran Neil ("Down the Middle") Collings, equally adhered to the straight and narrow, and after a dour struggle eventually wore his opponent down with a brilliant birdie 4 on the last hole.
So sadly we lost again in another close encounter by 3 matches to 2, but with the last game going to the 18th there can be no doubting the commitment and effort shown by all of the Team. Just a tad more fortune at vital times is probably all that's required to gain the elusive first win.
The Team would like to thank the many supporters who turned out on a very cold evening. There was no shortage of ball spotters, trolley pullers, green readers and general advisors; maybe a few Ra-Ra skirts next time would warm things up a bit!
The next Match (A) at Trent Lock is on TUESDAY 30th May - a day later than usual due to the Monday being a Bank Holiday.
