Lady Captain's Day 2019

  • The Lady Captain and her Chief Assistant!

My prayers were answered when I opened the curtains and the sun had really got his hat on!

The day started well with Ladies arriving at the registration table in plenty of time for their tee time. Many had entered into the spirit of the day by wearing a holiday themed outfit. One Lady however turned up wearing wetsuit, snorkel and flippers and assured me she had just dropped the children off at school whilst wearing the outfit!!! She did however take the flippers off to play. (ed note - spoilsport!)

I received many beautiful presents and lovely cards containing some lovely comments, some of them brought a tear to my eye.

At the halfway house the Ladies were treated to Pimms & cake, and to receive these lovely treats all they had to do was have their photo taken with me!
My photographer for the whole day was David Kissman and he did a truly fantastic job, as you can see in the collection below.

We had a gorgeous buffet lunch followed by strawberries, fresh scones and cream. As a treat, the Ladies were all served with a glass of Prosecco.

In the afternoon 15 Ladies were persuaded to go out and play a Texas Scramble. Whilst they were out on the course the other Ladies were finishing off the putting competition - there was a sneaky twist on that one as putters were not allowed!!

Also, in the afternoon 27 men went out in 3 balls to play a waltz, and from what I witnessed the performances were in some cases enhanced by the odd beer or lager before they started. Those that didn’t play well drowned their sorrows afterwards with more beer and lager.

It was now time for the prize presentation. The Ladies in the morning had played an individual stableford but the mystery of the day was that the people they played with were NOT part of their team. I had rearranged the teams!!! This led to a good feeling at the presentation as nobody knew who had won. We had a very good turnout at the prize giving and it was lovely to see so many players present.

At end of the prizes we surprised one of our Ladies with a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday as she was celebrating a BIG birthday. A lovely way to end a fabulous day - many, many thanks to my Team of Helpers and all the Staff whose contributions were greatly appreciated by one and all.
