On Tuesday 7th August, 156 Ladies from 33 different golf clubs played in the Stanton Ladies' Open. With the course being in great condition and the weather good, there were some very good scores returned. Several Stanton Ladies featured on the Leader Board throughout the day. However one of the last teams to finish achieved the winning score of 88 points included our own Ann Goodwin, playing with three Ladies from Rushcliffe. Well done to them all.
The team that came second who scored 85 points were from Belton Park, and third were a team including Stanton's Jan Hooley and Jackie Richards who scored 84.
In fourth place, also with 84 points were Stanton's Di Sully and her team, and in fifth place was a team from Forest Hill with 83 points.
Nearest-the-pin was won with a hole-in-one at the fifth by S. Young from Chesterfield, who was thrilled to score her first ace. The longest drive was won by Pat Hudson from Burghley Park.
The raffle raised £287, and the delicious cakes at the halfway house baked by Stanton Ladies, raised even more for the Captains' Charity - Keyworth and Disctrict Community Concern.
The Office had worked hard planning the day and producing start sheets and the cards. The Restaurant and Bar kept us fed and watered with their usual cheerful, calm approach, despite the Chef being away on his honeymoon!
A big thank you to all the volunteers who helped the day run smoothly. These included starters, registration, raffle ticket sellers, halfway house helpers, cake bakers, car park attendants and course marshals.
There was no prize presentation, so for those competitors who didn't collect them on the day, vouchers will be sent out in the post to the Team Leaders for onward distribution to the rest of their Teams.
Full results can be viewed on the website.
Many congratulations to all the prize winners. We hope those participating had a thoughly enjoyable day and look forward to seeing you all again next year.
