As part of our support for the local community, Stanton-on-the-Wolds Golf Club are pleased to endorse the following appeal made by two of its Members.
Aviva Community Fund Grant Application
Keyworth & District Community Concern is a voluntary, non-profit charity operating a mini bus providing transport and support to the elderly and less mobile residents of Keyworth and surrounding villages. It provides transport to and from a Tuesday Lunch Club and Thursday grocery shopping trips, and in line with our charitable aims the bus is also loaned out to other local community and sports groups. In order to safeguard the future of the charity we need to raise funds to replace the ageing bus. Aviva reward grants to those charitable groups who receive the highest number of votes from members of their own community. This is the only charity in Keyworth seeking funds through the Aviva Community Fund – so we asked all residents to please get behind us and support us with your vote!
Voting closed on 18th November 2016 with 3404 votes received, one of the highest set in the "Supporting the Older Generation" section, which is really fantastic.
According to the Aviva website we are a finalist in the £10001 to £25000 category with the winners being announced on 10th January 2017.
STOP PRESS - JANUARY 2017
We have been notified that we have been awarded £25000 towards a new Community Bus, which is fantastic news.
Whilst we still have a gap to cover off, we will be able to put in an order by later in the Spring.
This great news brings our buses right up to date and we can then move onto planning regular fund raising to both support running costs and towards a replacement bus in 6 to 7 years. This will be a challenge but all immediate requirements are sorted.
Its fantastic news - heartfelt thanks go to all the Club Members who along with many other people supported us in achieving this. We were 1 of 18 organisations in the whole country who have been awarded funding at this level.
