Nick's Weekly Roundup - Thursday 16th February 2012
Greetings from Nick
There's not much to report on the golf front this week, as I'm sure you can all imagine, but the good news is that, as I write this on Monday morning, the snow is almost gone now and play can hopefully get back underway very soon. Don't forget to check the web site for the latest news on the course conditions - the Head Greenkeeper is now a fully-qualified web sub-editor, and will endeavour to keep you informed of any changes. There have been technical problems with the course conditions telephone hotline which hopefully will be sorted out very soon. Apologies to all Members who have been unable to get through during the last spell of inclement weather.
Pro's Comp
As the course was closed last Saturday the Pro's Comp had to be
called off so weather permitting we will run the Pro's Comp this Saturday - 18th Feb.
Again everyone is welcome.
Valentine's Night Dinner
On Saturday night the club hosted the Valentines Night Dinner which went really well, so well done to everyone who helped run and organise the evening. Ritchie Penrose who, as some of you will know, is becoming a regular performer here, put on another great performance.
Pro Shop News
In the shop we've recently had the new Mizuno AeroLite WP carry bag come in, which is Mizuno's (and our to be stocked) first completely waterproof bag made from Impermalite material and with laser cut heat welded zippers. So, if your looking for a new carry bag, then these are definitely worth considering.
Upcoming Events
Looking ahead, the 175 club draw is being held on Friday, so if you've got a ticket make sure you don't miss out on the bonus.
In addition, the Business Ladies have a Stableford competition on Sunday.
Finally, the Ladies are playing a Stableford on Tuesday morning and the Seniors have their 14 hole competition on Wednesday.
Try the 2Thumb Wrist Brake and be a better putter
|
The Wrist Brake simply clips onto the shaft and should be aligned with the leading edge of the putter face when the player adopts their set up position, and should stay aligned during the putting stroke. If the Wrist Brake leads or trails the putter, it highlights a wrist break during the putting action which is one of the most common faults in amatuer golfers. The Wrist Brake is a great way of quickly highlighting any problems and can be used as a training aid to help the player see and feel what he or she should be doing to create a smooth, solid putting stroke. |
