Macmillan Cancer Support 2012

One of the sad facts of life is that one in three of us will get cancer, and it’s the toughest thing most of us will ever face. If you’ve been diagnosed with cancer, or a loved one has, you’ll want a team of people in your corner helping you every step of the way.

Macmillan Cancer Support  provide practical, medical and financial support and push for better cancer care.  Donations make up 96% of their income, so they simply couldn't do what they do without you.

One of their fund-raising events involves those who play golf - The Longest Day Golf Challenge.
What's needed are SuperMen and SuperWomen to take on the toughest battle in golf.

We are pleased to announce that Stanton-on-the-Wolds Golf Club rose to the occasion and produced

Four of our own SuperHeroes

who, having undergone intensive training at the 19th in readiness for this gruelling 72 hole event, took it in their stride with great aplomb.

Their marathon effort took place on Monday 9th July at  Stanton-on-the-Wolds Golf Club.
starting at 5.25 am and finishing at 8.15 pm.

Over £80.00 was collected from other golfers on the course at the time, and to them a special thanks is due for their instant and entirely voluntary contributions!

All four rounds were witnessed by fellow Members and supporters, and as buggies were banned for the day for all players due to the atrocious ground conditions, any thoughts of subtle rule bending were out of the question. It was Shanks' pony all the way!

All of the Team will still appreciate any further support you care to give them - further details of their involvement can been seen by visiting their own individual JUSTGIVING web page - it's not too late!.

Simple click on a Team Member's name in the above list to read their mission statements, and see the totals contributed so far!

Remember it's all for a very, very worthwhile cause!

Full details and further information are available on the
Macmillan Fundraising website.

Many thanks from D, D, J & M!
