Stanton v Oakmere Park (A)
The Stanton Juniors InterClub Team started the season with an away opening league match against Oakmere Park Golf Club on 8th April.
Played on a cold and windy Sunday afternoon the quality of golf was of a high standard, especially considering that most of the Stanton Team had not played the course before and were therefore not aware of some of its subtleties.
Scott Hamilton, James Hernon and Declan Maltby faced stiff opposition from their Oakmere opponents with all three just losing out in three very close and hard fought matches.
With the first three matches going to Oakmere it was left to Eric Tutty, Josh Blackburn and Esme Hamilton to even the balance with all three recording convincing wins against their opponents thereby resulting in a halved match.
A good start for the Stanton Juniors, who represented the Club well both on and off the course.
Next month (13th May at 1:00pm) sees the Juniors travelling to The Nottinghamshire GC for the second match of the season.
Any support from parents and members at their matches will always be welcome, so why not spend an afternoon out and encourage our Juniors as they continue to represent the Club and develop their individual potential.
